This weekend had the highest number of auctions scheduled since 25th October 2008 when 942 homes were offered at auction and 53 per cent sold. The clearance rate this weekend was 82 per cent, which clearly represented a substantial improvement on last year and was even an increase on the year to date clearance rate of 81 per cent.
The Melbourne auction market has now recorded 19 weekends in a row with a clearance rate above 80 per cent and is matching the 2008 market performance since July.
There were 821 auctions reported this weekend, of which 528 were sold, 147 sold before and 144 passed in. Of the auctions passed in 82 were passed in on a vendors bid.
Next weekend the number of auctions drops due to the AFL Grand Final.
